May 2016 Member Spotlight – Kelly Anderson

 Here is our  May 2016 Tribe Member Spotlight: Quiet and calm but she packs quite a punch!

We are so excited to share the personal story about this months’ member! We love having her as part of our tribe and we hope you enjoy getting to know her a little bit more!

Give us a little history about yourself.  Where were you born? Did you play sports growing up?

I was born and raised in Southern California and have been married to my husband for almost twenty years.  We have three adult children, no grandchildren. I retired from Law Enforcement five years ago and prior to retirement was physically fit my entire life.  Due to a neck surgery, I was unable to do much of anything for a few years and that’s when it all began…..I started gaining weight, developed poor eating habits and lost my motivation to stay fit.

What is your motivation to work out?

Fortunately my friend and fellow tribe member, Shawn Dredla, introduced me to Village Coach Fitness.  After an introductory session with Coach Fatimat, I committed to her program for one year and made a promise to myself that I would turn things around and stay in shape.

How does working out make you feel?

After the first week of actually working out, I wondered what in the world had I been thinking in signing up for this punishment!!  It does get better.  Even though I’ve only been a member for six months and have a long ways to go, I have seen amazing results in how I feel.

What do you do to make sure you have time for your workouts?

I have been a Fitness Tribe member for about six months and what a journey it has been. I now look forward to my workouts and because I am retired I am able to completely make my own schedule and dedicate my work out days.  I take my hat off to the women, and men, who do this on top of working and raising kids!!

What are your goals?

My goal is to continue beyond my one year commitment and stay healthy and fit. Thank you Coach Fatimat for your support and encouragement. Everyone has been amazingly supportive.

What would you say to someone on the fence about joining the Village?

My advice for anyone who is not sure about signing up?  It’s tough, it’s a commitment but it is so worth the effort.  You won’t be disappointed!
