Now that it’s getting hot and I’m sure you are getting thirsty, please note some tips about good ol’ H2O.



Remember once you feel thirsty, you are already De-hydrated. It’s one of the reasons that you should drink 2 glasses of water before each meal. So, that if you forget to drink water during the day, at least you make up for it then. It’s best drank throughout the day (consistently) but understandably some of you wouldn’t have time to duck out to the bathroom every 10 minutes, so try to really be vigilant about the 2 glasses before each meal. It’s so important.


 Some Facts for you:

Water makes up around 60-70% of our bodies…It regulates body temperature, it helps transport nutrients, carries waste, aids respiration, helps our muscles function amongst every other thing it does. Long story short….you NEED this stuff! Did you know that if you were to go without water for 3-4 days, you would die!?

So many times people tell me they didn’t have any water during their day. Not one sip! And I have even heard the excuse that “I don’t like water” Oh please…seriously?

We may prefer other things….but you can’t hate water! You are obviously just used to drinking things that you prefer. There is a difference between not liking (actually gagging at the thought of drinking it) and choosing to drink a coke instead.

For so many people Water is one of the most neglected parts of everyday life. Your body depends on you drinking it! Your brain in itself is made up of at least 75% water, your blood over 83% and your lungs over 90%. Without it, you could literally cook your insides.

Water stops cravings! It aids hunger pangs and it is the easiest and healthiest way to feel full and content. Next time you feel like having a snack, have a large glass of water and tell me that didn’t fill the hole. It might not have been what you wanted but we all know that what you want and what you need are two completely different things.

In addition to water you can have herbal teas (decaffeinated), herbal drinks, milk, juice and sports drinks – although most of these have lots of sugar so water is always best.

So as you reach for that glass or water bottle, take into account all the good you are doing by drinking this simple and lovely substance. The more hydrated you are, the quicker your metabolism works. When you are de-hydrated your liver and kidney functions slow down which means you can’t metabolize fat as fast…..And if your body isn’t used to getting a regular intake of water you will start to store it (body survival mode)….and nobody wants cankles! Because that’s where it goes….Ankles, hips, thighs (cellulite!)….But if you drink enough and regularly, then your body won’t need to store it and you will find that you are able to lose weight A LOT faster.


Now that you have the knowledge, go and have a drink! Water that is!
