August 2017 Member Spotlight of the Month

       We are so excited to share the personal story about this months’ member! We love having her as part of our tribe as she lightens up the room with her smile and energy! Here is our August 2017 Tribe member Spotlight: Enjoyable, Devoted, and Sweet Jenilee Plunkett! 

Jenilee’s Story: 

“I was born and raised in Torrance, Ca. I attended Catholic school up until college, where I attended UC Riverside. I have a dual teaching credential in general ed and Special Ed (mild to moderate). This will be my 12th year teaching for Val Verde USD in an SDC class at March Middle School. My best friends from high school introduced me to my husband, Mike, and we just celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary. We have 2 kids, Michael (3) and Harper (3 months).” 

Did you play sports growing up?

“I played basketball in elementary school and tennis in high school. Whether I was good or not is another story!”

What is your motivation to work out & how did you decide to start your fitness career?

“I started attending bootcamp in preparation for my wedding and fell in love with Coach Fatimat and her program. I continued with bootcamp, knowing we wanted to eventually start having a family. When I was pregnant with both kids, Coach Fatimat continued to work with me and modified my workouts according to how far along I was in my pregnancies. I am continuously motivated to eventually get back to my pre pregnancy weight.”

How does working out make you feel?

“I am going to be honest….I am not jumping up for joy at the thought of working out every time, but once I do it, I always feel stronger and better about myself. Plus, working out with all the wonderful women is always a ton of fun too!”

What are your goals?

“Originally my goal was to look good in a wedding dress, then it changed to having healthy pregnancies and healthy babies, now it is to keep up with my kids and be healthy and happy for my family.” 

What do you do to make sure you have time for your workout?

“I am a planner and hate to make changes to plans last minute. So, I always schedule and book my workouts for the whole month, so my husband knows when he has to get home early from work to watch the kids, what days I need to make dinner and when not to have after school meetings. Once I am committed to a schedule, I stick with it unless there is an emergency.”

What kind of milestones have you accomplished & what were the results?

“I think the greatest milestones I have personally accomplished is my recovery process through both pregnancies. Coach Fatimat always emphasized during my workouts how easy it would be for me to recover if I continued to exercise while I was pregnant and she was right. I had c-sections for both births and was walking the same day and even got discharged from the hospital early with my last pregnancy. I couldn’t wait to come back to attend bootcamp classes again!”

What would you say to someone on the fence about joining the Village?

“I would say ‘once you attend a day of bootcamp, you would love it.’ But you also have to stay committed. Not only would a person love the workouts, but they would love how committed the coaches are to keeping you motivated. Plus, everyone who attends are people who love to have fun and also support and motivate each other.”
